On the 25th anniversary of Pete Rose being banned from baseball, former baseball great Mike Schmidt says "it is time for a parole hearing." Schmidt who played along side Rose in Philadelphia when they won the World Series in 1980 believes Rose has been punished long enough and should be reinstated.

Schmidt grew up in Dayton and was 13 when Pete Rose debuted with the Reds. The Hall of Fame third baseman has written an article for the Associated Press about Rose and asks major league baseball to let him back in. Schmidt asserts that this "was not a capital crime" and adds that while Rose bet on his team he never bet on them to lose.

Pete Rose will make his own case for reinstatement tonight on Sportstalk on 700WLW, he is Lance McAlister's guest at 8:35.
