( Hamilton County ) - The sheriff's office is looking for people who may be victims of the "black money scam."
The scam involves what looks like US currency covered in black dye. The scammer cleans some of the bills in front of the victim and tells them that the chemicals used for cleaning are expensive. The scammer asks the victim for money to buy more chemicals, promising to split the cleaned bills with them. However, the scammer never comes back with the victim's money, and the dyed bills turn out to be construction paper.
Investigators say they found items used in the scam at a suburban Cincinnati hotel along I-71. Three suspects have been questioned, but deputies are looking for victims.
