(Mt. Healthy, OH) -- It was a stubborn fire, according to Chief Steve Lawson.  He says if this were a nicer day, it would have been a lot easier to extinguish.  The fire was reported just after 9am, in the 1400 block of St. Clair, just off of Hamilton Avenue.

Firefighters had icicles hanging from their helmets and their gear.  At least one was holding his gloves at the tailpipe of an engine in order to warm them up.  A crew was inside the house, spraying water up, through the partially collapsed roof.  By the time that water hit the ground, it had turned to snow.

The fire started somewhere in the back of the house.  The homeowner was there at the the time, but she got out safely.  The cause hasn't been determined.
