(Glendale) -- America's biggest supermarket chain, Cincinnati-based Kroger keeps a close eye on the forecast, and this approaching storm is no different.  The National Weather Service issues winter storm warnings long before the first snowflakes fall.  That's to give people time to get to the store, and it gives stores time to prepare.

Jennifer Lien with Kroger says days ahead of the storm, they schedule extra employees at their stores, and fill the stockrooms, to make sure they have enough on the shelves when people rush in ahead of the bad weather.  She says they do have a surge in business before the storm, and again after the roads have been cleared.

Snow blocks roads and closes schools.  An ice storm can leave thousands without electricity.  But, either way Kroger stores will likely stay open.  Lien says they have generators at the stores.
