(Norwood, Oh.)--Norwood Police lifted the shelter-in-place order around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, after a chemical release earlier in the morning.
Norwood firefighters and the Environmental Protection Agency were called in after Nitrogen Oxide leaked at the Shepherd Chemical Company on Highland Avenue.
The leak was discovered around 11 o'clock Tuesday morning, workers were moved to a building across the street, and a "shelter in place" was issued for residences and businesses within 500 feet to the northeast and northwest of the plant.
According to the EPA, Nitrogen oxide can cause airway inflammation and potentially increased respiratory symptoms in people who suffer from asthma.
The investigation continues, as to how the chemical leak started.
