(Hebron, Ky.)-- A Boone County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a shooting Saturday morning that left a young woman dead.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office, says early Saturday morning, Deputy Tyler Brockman, (28) was sent out to control a party in the 6600 block of River Road near Tanner Road.


The Department says Brockman ordered the driver of a car that was trying to leaving the party, to stop. The Driver reportedly refused to comply and struck deputy Brockman, throwing him up on the hood of the car.

Brockman then fired four shots through the windshield of the car striking the driver.

The Driver identified as 19 year-old Samantha Ramsey, was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead. Brockman was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. Several witnesses report the deputy jumped on top of the car and then fired four shots. They say Ramsey did not hit the deputy.

Brockman, a K-9 deputy for the Department, has served on the force since June 2010. He has been placed on routine administrative leave. A vigil was held Sunday night for Ramsey.
