(Boone County, Ky)--Nineteen-year-old Samantha Ramsey was remembered Sunday evening during a vigil. Friends and family gathered at the shooting location.

Boone County deputies said that Deputy Tyler Brockman was investigating a field party on River Rd.  He got out of his cruiser, and was hit by a car leaving the party.

The department said Brockman landed on the hood of the car, and he fired four shots into the windshield. He hit the driver, who was Ramsey.  She was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

One hundred fifty people turned out for the vigil.

"I wouldn't have expected anything less. I wouldn't have because she was so loved. You know she's a good person. She loved people, they loved her. She was a people person," said  Ramsey's mother Brandi Stewart.

"I just want to know what happened. I want answers. The officer involved … I'm not, I'm not an unreasonable person. I'm realistic. He was the last person that looked in my daughter's eyes that saw her face and I want answers," said Stewart.

Ramsey’s friends were also angered at the shooting.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department has placed Brockman on administrative leave, and is conducting an investigation.
