(Cincinnati) -- Some Cincinnati Firefighters spent Saturday handing out smoke detectors, fire alarms and safety pamphlets to students around the University of Cincinnati campus. Others were resting after extinguishing fires in Mt. Auburn and College Hill.
Friday night, around 11:30, firefighters were alerted to a blaze at 2009 Ryan Avenue. They arrived to find smoke coming from an attic window, and put the flames out within ten minutes. Damage was estimated to be worth $5,000. The cause is under investigation.
Early Saturday afternoon, units were called to 7936 Bobolink Drive, where they reported seeing smoke coming from the roof. The fire was contained to a second floor bedroom, and was brought under control in less than ten minutes. Damage was also listed as $5,000, and investigators say the fire was started by a child playing with matches.
