(Cincinnati) Water rates are going up by 4-percent for Cincinnati Water Works customers. Cincinnati City Council passed the rate hike at their meeting Wednesday. Council members Yvette Simpson, Christopher Smitherman and Charles Winburn voting against it. Simpson said she believed the rate hike should be higher and wouldn't vote for the increase of 4 percent. Council turned down a 7.5 percent increase last week as well was the 4 percent hike proposed by Vice Mayor David Mann, but again reconsidered the 4 percent increase again this week. Several members expressed concern that rates will continue to rise without cost cutting measures by Water Works administrators.
