With the departure of right end Michael Johnson in the offseason, the Bengals turned to West Virginia’s Will Clarke Friday night in the third round of the NFL Draft.

The 6-6, 271-pound Clarke had a solid all-star game season, holding his own at the Senior Bowl against Notre Dame’s Zack Martin, a first-round pick of the Cowboys, and playing well in the East-West Shrine Game. During the season he had six sacks and 17 tackles for loss. The only West Virginia player to be honored three times for his work in the weight room, Clarke combines strength with a 4.77-second 40-yard dash.

“Good first step quickness. Can turn speed to power,” according to Ourlads Scouting Services. “Fights through double team blocks by keeping his feet active.”
