The Bengals have announced the signing of linebacker Aaron Maybin.

Maybin was drafted in the first round (12th overall) by Buffalo in 2009 and has played the last two years with the Jets. He appeared in eight games this past season before being released on Nov. 13. In 2011, he had six sacks in 13 games.

The Bengals have four linebackers who are slated to be unrestricted free agents — Rey Maualuga, Manny Lawson, Thomas Howard and Dan Skuta.

After he was cut from the Jets, teammate Bart Scott told Newsday, “He’s a very quality football player. Not only that,  and a quality friend and a quality teammate. Good people like that always land on their feet.”
